This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan on a full-time basis.
The Role
The Electrical Diagnostician is a key position responsible for ensuring electrical first time quality (EFTQ) during vehicle launches and plant operations. This role supports the Global Artisan Innovation Center (PPO) shop with processing vehicles through the electrical end-of-line (EOL) repair process and resolving complex electrical issues that impact quality. The Diagnostician will represent the Electrical team in plant builds, drive root cause analysis, and provide training and mentorship to repair teams and new diagnosticians.
What You’ll Do

Support new vehicle launches (Major, Global, B/VIP, SDV) by participating in training, virtual reviews, program readiness reviews, and early plant builds.

Troubleshoot and repair vehicle electrical systems using plant diagnostic tools (GDS2, MDI, Buffalo, Raytheon) and test systems (AVT, DVT, GBFTT, MPPTT).

Document electrical issues in GSIP/MERS/PRTS and collaborate with Electrical IRT and Software IRT teams to resolve them prior to build exits.

Lead workshops to build diagnostic fault databases and develop standardized repair processes for plant teams.

Provide daily tracking reports, weekly launch performance summaries, and root cause analysis reports for top electrical issues.

Act as the primary contact for repair teams, supporting schematic verification, diagnostic troubleshooting, and service information updates.

Mentor and train repairmen and new diagnosticians on diagnostic tools, systems, and best practices.

Drive lessons learned across launches to improve processes, correlate test system performance, and support continuous improvement.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Minimum 5 years of experience with automotive electrical subsystems.

Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting expertise with electrical systems.

Proficiency with GSIP, MERS, PRTS, and plant testing systems (AVT, DVT, GBFTT, MPPTT).

Effective communication skills with ability to translate technical issues for non-technical audiences.

Strong analytical ability, decision-making skills, and ability to innovate under pressure.

Thorough knowledge of GMS and BIQ4 deliverables.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

Prior manufacturing plant experience in electrical or plant floor operations.

DVT or electrical engineering experience.

Supervisory or UAW management experience.
