Operations Group Leader Job Description
Responsible for coordinating the efforts of group of work centers / work areas including the Team Leads and members. These are generally an internal development position and report to an Operations Supervisor
Principle duties and responsibilities include:

- This position reports to the production / Operations Supervisor and will be responsible for a section of the production area.
- This position leads a group of Team Leads and Team Members to achieve daily Safety, Quality, Production output, Materials controls and Costs related to labor content and consumables.
- This position is expected to assist the front line Team Leads and Team Members meet the cycle Times, TAKT and minute by minute troubleshooting and supporting meeting short term targets and times.
- Responsible to escalate ( Inform promptly) when a potential problem exists that may and/or did impact Safety, TAKT, Quality or Delivery
- Responsible for fostering open communications throughout the organization and actively clarifying goals accomplishments, and activities in support of operating objectives. This includes conducting daily meetings, preparing and conducting the MDI process and boards each day
- Evaluate and improve the skills and performance of production team members and production team leaders through the skills matrix’s, job rotations and cross-training
- Develop team leaders and team members to be able to manage the shop (Schedules, Quality, Safety, Housekeeping)
- Consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Control costs for shop operations by assisting in cost reductions, maximizing utilization and monitoring consumption of supplies and wastes.
- Assure compliance with all A-Rank’s, 5S and standard work through the Process confirmation activities.
- Lead/participate in Lean events.
- Monitor and report on team member attendance, timeliness regarding be at work on time, assisting with time clock accuracy
- Will reallocate team members to maximize output and quality while maintaining safety of personnel. Also may determine individuals’ work schedules from time to time.
- Ability to think proactively and anticipate problems and their solutions

Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to lead by example and positively influence and inspire others to meet goals.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate goals and results effectively
- Demonstrated ability to address and resolve difficult issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience in setting goals and providing feedback.
- Experience in participating in Lean events.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and Power point
- Candidate may be required to work any shift as required including 12 hours / day / shift
- Must be willing to work overtime as required.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication, along with interaction skills.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs without assistance
- Basic Mechanical knowledge preferred
- Must have excellent attendance
- Must be humble enough to listen and be willing to accept a high level of coaching and desire to improve individual performance
