$41.60 per hour plus $5.00 per hour Health & Welfare
The Protective Service Officer (PSO) is responsible for ensuring and maintaining the safety and security of all company personnel, visitors, property, and assets. This is done through proactive patrols of Department of Justice (DOJ) property and monitoring of computer systems including but not limited to building management, access control, fire detection, CCTV, visitor management; and responding to emergencies as they arise.
The PSO will work in a performance-focused environment, where the use of equipment such as batons, OC Spray, X-ray machines, magnetometers, closed circuit television (CCTV), handcuffs, and (where required by post assignment) firearms at any time while on duty will be required.
Ideal candidates are comfortable with on-site shift work, demonstrate strong process orientation, and are comfortable making decisions in a compliance-oriented environment. Those with experience operating in both indoor and outdoor, varied, and physically demanding environments are preferred, along with additional Public Safety certificates such as: guard card, gun permit, CPR, and First Aid.
OUR BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- U.S. citizenship required
- At least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Graduate of an accredited Law Enforcement training academy OR Correctional Training Academy (State or Federal) OR Military equivalency
- At least 2 years of experience in: Law Enforcement OR US Military Police OR US Security Forces OR State/Federal Corrections. This 2 years' experience MUST be Law Enforcement with general arrest authority, Federal or State Armed Correctional Officer or active duty Military Police
***Experience does NOT qualify if: County/Local Corrections, DC Corrections, or Special Police Officer/ DC SPO.
