Shift: Monday - Friday Days with flexibility on hours depending on needs
Position Summary:
We’re hiring a hands-on Commercial/Industrial Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair building systems and production/support equipment across commercial facilities and light/medium industrial sites in the Austin metro. You’ll work on pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, compressors, boilers (low‑pressure/hydronic), pneumatics/hydraulics, and related controls. The ideal candidate pairs strong mechanical fundamentals with safe work habits, solid documentation, and customer-friendly communication.
Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repairs
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on rotating equipment (pumps, fans, blowers, gearboxes), compressors, conveyors, elevations/lifts, and.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance: lubrication, alignments, belt/chain drives, bearings, seals, vibration/temperature checks, filter changes, and PM documentation in CMMS.
- Vacuum/pneumatic systems, and low-pressure boilers.
- Execute basic electrical/mechatronic tasks tied to mechanical work (VFD checks, sensors/actuators, safeties, interlocks) and interface with BAS/PLC techs as needed.
- Safety & Compliance
- Apply lockout/tagout (LOTO), hot‑work, confined space, fall protection, and machine guarding best practices at all times.
- Follow environmental rules (if applicable to assigned work).
- Complete job hazard analyses (JHAs) and maintain clean, safe work areas.
- Quality, Documentation & Customer Service
- Use CMMS/work orders to record diagnostics, parts, labor hours, and recommendations.
- Communicate clearly with site contacts on scope, status, and next steps; escalate risks early.
- Assist with spare parts, vendor coordination, and small install/retrofit projects.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical service needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, Building/Facilities Mechanic, or equivalent military/trade experience.
- Proficient with mechanical diagnostics (vibration/noise/temperature), shaft alignment, precision measuring, rigging basics, and reading mechanical drawings/P&IDs.
- Demonstrated LOTO use and safe work execution on energized/mechanical systems.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to pass background check and drug screen; ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work from lifts/roofs in Texas weather.
Required/Conditional Certifications (based on assigned work)
- Boilers: Sites operating boilers must maintain a TDLR Certificate of Operation; experience with low-pressure boiler operations/maintenance is a plus.
Preferred
- 5–8+ years progressive experience; journeyman-level troubleshooting on boilers, air compressors, pumps, motors, and general mechanical equipment.
- Experience with VFDs, alignment tools, laser alignment, vibration analysis, and basic PLC/HMI.
- OSHA‑10/30, aerial lift/forklift, NCCER Millwright, rigging/signalperson, brazing/welding (GTAW/SMAW) are pluses.
Work Environment & Travel
- Exposure to mechanical rooms/rooftops/production areas; work from ladders/lifts and outdoors as needed.
