What does a successful Credit Risk Analyst do?
At Fiserv, a successful Credit Risk Analyst works to identify, mitigate, and eliminate fraud and credit losses by conducting thorough investigations into potentially high-risk/suspicious merchant processing activities. This role is integral to protecting our firm and our clients from financial loss through diligent risk assessment and effective communication with internal and external partners. You will also be responsible for negotiating collateral requirements, resolving merchant inquiries, completing special projects, interpreting financial documents, reading and interpreting personal credit profiles, calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages, and exercising discretion and independent judgment.
What you will do:
- Make real-time decisions to identify situations requiring deeper investigation and recognize emerging fraud trends.
- Coordinate risk mitigation and fraud remediation efforts across departments including Funding, Legal, Operations, and Client Services.
- Communicate regularly with internal and external partners to present high-risk activities with recommended actions.
- Review numerous accounts in a fast-paced environment to identify potentially high-risk/suspicious merchant processing activities.
- Review and investigate merchant accounts to assess fraud and credit risk exposure.
What you will need to have:
- 2+ years of experience in customer service or 1+ year of experience in fraud and risk analysis.
- 2-year degree in a related field and/or equivalent military experience.
- Proficiency in using programs such as Excel and Word.
- Ability to multitask and manage deadlines.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
What would be great to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Criminal Justice, Pre-Law, or a related field.
- 1+ year of prior credit risk experience.
- Familiarity with MasterCard and Visa Association rules and regulations.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Customer service experience with a track record of dealing with adverse situations.
