Role Definition
We are looking for a Lead System Test Architect to join our newly formed System Test Architecture (STA) team. The STA team is a part of Quality Assurance group that is working with talented cross-functional engineering teams that are building new applications and platform utilizing cutting-edge technologies. STA team is leading relentless pursuit of quality and best test practices on multiple large-scale programs for the CAT Digital Platform.
What you will do:
- Provide system test strategy and traceability matrix for manual and/or automation testing of features and capabilities of platform and applications.
- Be responsible for overseeing and mentoring junior STA team members and handle architecture, product and technical requirements, and data quality reviews.
- Competent to perform analysis, evaluation, make decisions, and identify actions to develop strategy for system level test execution teams on new and existing software products.
- Use your understanding of systems, regression, integration, performance, and user acceptance testing to identify gaps and overlaps in system test.
- Works directly on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution.
What you will have:
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
- Application Design, Architecture: Knowledge of basic activities and deliverables of application design; ability to utilize application design methodologies, tools and techniques to convert business requirements and logical models into a test strategies.
- Software Product Testing: Knowledge of software product testing; ability to design, plan, and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure software product quality and adherence to stated requirements.
Top candidates will have:
- Typically have 12 years or more of software engineering experience
- Demonstrated experience developing test strategies and leading software projects.
- Prior experience with cloud environment (AWS strongly preferred). Knowledge of Azure DevOps, Power BI, and Excel (advanced).
- Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium and Karate
Additional Details:
- This position has the option to be based out of either our Chicago, IL, Peoria, IL, or Irving, TX (Dallas) offices.

Summary Pay Range:
$126,000.00 - $204,720.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
