Toyota’s Plastics Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Pilot Engineer. The primary responsibility of this role is to lead new product development and successful launch of Plastics components and the equipment and processes that produce them in our manufacturing environment at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana.
Reporting to the Pilot Manager, the person in this role will support the Plastics department's objective to successfully launch new models in our manufacturing areas on time while meeting all Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost KPI’s defined for the projects.
This position is based in Princeton, IN. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.
What you’ll be doing
Lead or support new product data/drawing reviews and collaborate with vehicle design groups and Quality Engineering to ensure seamless processes.
Tolerancing of assembly parts and process capability studies
Process layouts and setup for new or modified products
Equipment/Tooling specification, procurement, and commissioning as required for each project.
Quality Control Plan development and deployment including training of affected team members.
What you bring
Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering / Engineering Technology.
Individuals must be able to use digital engineering tools (CAD, CAE, FEA, PFMEA, Virtual Simulation, 3D Measurement, etc.) to analyze a product pre-production.
New Model (Design to SOP = 3 years) [Schedules, specifications, tracking, reporting]
Interface across multifunctional teams (Contractors / Skilled trades / PE / Quality)
This position requires excellent project management skills.
Proficient with assembly of components and tolerancing
Excellent computer skills and extensive experience with Microsoft Office products (Intermediate - Excel, Intermediate PowerPoint, Basic Project, etc.)
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
Ability to work weekends, holiday shutdowns, and confirmation support for smooth restart of production.
This position requires driving (Business Travel). A motor vehicle record that’s acceptable by company standards is required for this position.
Added bonus if you have
Previous experience developing or improving sub-assembly processes.
Experience with tensor tools and torque management
Catia / XVL Experience / PolyWorks / FARO
Experience with Toyota Human Design Standards / Ergo Guidelines
Injection molding and / or paint application experience
Experience with new equipment installation from specification creation through commissioning and SOP.
