What does a successful Infrastructure Engineer do at Fiserv?
As an Infrastructure Engineer you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our application systems. You will install, configure and manage applications supporting the Financial Institutions Group.
In addition, you will oversee the daily operations of application systems, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance. This is a 24/7 support team of our Financial Institutions Group.
This role will involve maintaining applications, databases, and reports within Oracle-based systems. Key responsibilities include writing and optimizing SQL queries, troubleshooting technical issues, collaborating with stakeholders, ensuring data integrity, and providing technical support.
The role requires a strong understanding of Oracle technologies and software development best practices.
What you will do:
- Attend incidents, troubleshoot application issues, and resolve application issues to minimize downtime and impact on users
- Implement and maintain monitoring tools and processes to track application performance and generate reporting metrics
- Work closely with development, infrastructure, and support teams to deploy and support applications
- Manage the deployment pipelines for continuous integration
What you will need to have:
- 4+ years of experience in application operations
- 4+ years of experience in application monitoring tools, incident management systems, and performance optimization techniques, such as Dynatrace, Splunk and/or Extrahop
- 4+ years of experience in automated deployment processes and tools
- 4+ years of experience in Oracle database performance tuning with a foundation in DBA tasks
- 4+ years of experience in SQL Optimization, specifically tuning techniques such as rewriting queries, using hints, and leveraging Oracle's optimizer
- 4+ years of experience in SQL programming language, specifically scripting as well as SQR programming knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, or military experience
What would be great to have:
- Experience with Monitoring & Diagnostics: Use of tools like AWR, ADDM, and SQL Trace for performance analysis and troubleshooting
- Experience with monitoring solutions and practices
- Experience in project management and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Experience in Execution Plans: Skilled in analyzing and interpreting execution plans to identify performance bottlenecks and optimize SQL queries.
- Experience in SQL Optimization: Familiar with tuning techniques such as rewriting queries, using hints, and leveraging Oracle's optimizer.
