Position Title: Lead Onshore Pipeline Engineer

Job Purpose
- Lead Pipeline engineering activities within Concept, FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and Detail Engineering for Oil & Gas projects.
- Ensure high-quality, safe, and timely delivery of pipeline design and related deliverables in adherence with project requirements, international codes, and standards.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and coordination across multi-disciplinary teams and interfaces with clients.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Lead and independently perform the pipeline engineering scope for Concept, FEED and Detail Engineering phases.
- Develop and review pipeline design strategies, standards, and procedures.
- Hands-on capability to perform and supervise pipeline calculations, pipeline design basis, mechanical design, routing optimization, stress analysis, support design, crossings design & optimization, buckling assessment & mitigation, buoyancy assessment, location class & valve station selection, hot tap studies, ductile fracture assessment, scrapping requirement assessment, and insulation considerations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, B31.4, B31.8, API RP 1101, etc.) and project specifications.
- Review and approve technical deliverables such as P&IDs, isometrics, routing drawings, material lists, and design basis memoranda.
- Coordinate and interface with process, piping, mechanical, instrumentation, electrical, materials & corrosion, safety, construction, geotechnical, structural and civil teams to resolve technical issues.
- Manage change to scope, schedule, and budget, and provide risk assessments and mitigation plans.
- Mentor and train junior engineers; provide technical reviews and feedback.
- Interface with clients and vendors, supporting technical clarifications and design approvals.
- Ensure engineering integrity, quality assurance and document control for all pipeline-related deliverables.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, toolbox talks, and knowledge sharing.
- Support field execution and construction activities as needed, including site visits when required and as-built documentation.
Experience
- 15+ years of experience and proven track record in Concept, FEED and Detail Engineering and EPCM experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Key Requirement 1: Previous ADNOC EPC experience + familiarity with ADNOC procedures & requirement (procurement, permitting, interfaces, etc.) is highly preferred.
- Key Requirement 2: Highly capable and efficient in preparing (hands-on) all onshore pipeline engineering deliverables independently and simultaneously working on multiple pipeline projects. Owns assigned tasks with high degree of responsibility. Flexibility & adaptability to maneuver dynamic and evolving project environment.
- Experience in onshore pipeline constructability, procurement process & commissioning is desirable.
- Familiarity / experience in offshore pipeline and subsea engineering is a bonus.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (e.g. Pipeline, Mechanical or similar applicable degree).
- Professional registration (eg. PMP) or chartered status is a plus.
- Proven pipeline design software proficiency (eg. AutoPIPE, Caesar II, MathCAD, etc.)
- Proven experience directly managing a group of designers producing project pipeline drawings to meet client requirements.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of pipeline mechanical design, stress analysis, routing optimization, crossing design (road, rail, river, HDD, open cut, etc.) & optimization, buckling (LB, UHB) assessment & mitigation, and thermal expansion considerations.
- Proficient in relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, B31.4, B31.8; API standards;
- Ability to perform stress analysis, material selection, and corrosion considerations.
- Knowledge of HSE practices & requirements and risk assessment methodologies applicable to design and construction phases.
