TRD is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Simulator Engineer as a key member of TRD's state of the art driver-in-the loop simulator team, which has been serving our customers and race teams for over a decade with tremendous success.
This position will be responsible for the development and continuous improvement of DIL simulator technology which includes hardware systems, controls, visuals, real-time simulation, and workflow application. Additional responsibilities include customer facing operation, systems troubleshooting, and investigating future concepts.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and assist in hardware integration into DIL simulators
• Continuously improve immersion and realism of the driving experience
• Maintain calibrated functionality of DIL simulator and all subsystems
• Assist in vehicle model integration into the real-time environment
• Serve as key point of contact for troubleshooting and diagnostic investigations
• Proactively improve operational workflow to maximize efficiency
• Investigate new concepts and tools related to DIL simulator technologies
• Operate and collaborate with race teams during simulator sessions
• Continue to maintain strong relationships with our customers and race teams
Qualifications
A successful candidate will have:
• BS or higher in engineering or related discipline
• Experience in developing hardware / controls systems
• Practical experience in modeling using Simulink and MATLAB
• Exhibit strong analytical, problem-solving, and hands-on expertise
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other engineering disciplines
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
• Comfortable in fast pace working environment
A successful candidate preferred qualifications:
• Strong experience with PLC systems (Siemens, Beckhoff/TwinCAT, B&R, etc.)
• Experience in real-time simulation environments
• Experience in writing and troubleshooting code written in Python and C#
• Experience in machine learning
• Familiar with data analysis workflow and software (Atlas, MoTec, PI, etc.)
• Experience in the automotive or motorsports industry
• Understanding of vehicle dynamics and performance
