Who we’re looking for
OneTech North America Quality (NAQ) is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Software Engineering Manager.
Reporting to the OneTech Senior Manager for NAQ, the person in this role will work closely with business product owners and principal engineers managing multiple teams in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of software products throughout their entire lifecycle.
This position is based in Plano, TX. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within a commutable distance of this location.
What you’ll be doing
Leadership and Team Management
Build strong, collaborative relationships with business counterparts in the North America Quality department by proactively understanding the business domain and supporting major upcoming initiatives.
Lead, mentor, and inspire seasoned application development teams by defining clear objectives, offering constructive feedback, and cultivating a collaborative, technically proficient culture that fosters innovation and professional growth.
Collaborate with the OneTech Senior Manager, Principal Engineers, and Business Product Owners to establish a forward-looking product strategy and vision for the application development teams.
Manage the annual core and project budget for the area, including strategic decision-making related to staffing and resource allocation.
Program & Project Management
Oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of multiple concurrent application development projects.
Ensure that projects are executed within specified timelines, scope, and budget constraints.
Establish clear priorities, develop robust implementation plans and allocate resources.
Ensure all projects follow enterprise standard development methodologies.
Proactively manage and mitigate risks and issues.
Technical & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Establish robust governance processes and technical assessments to guarantee the quality, scalability, and security of products in the portfolio.
Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Maintain a high level of technical expertise and stay current with emerging industry best practices.
Collaborate effectively with architecture, security, data, Cloud, NAQ platform, and other OneTech product teams to ensure seamless product launches.
Process Optimization
Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance development processes, tools, and workflows, while promoting reuse and eliminating duplicate solutions.
Develop and maintain deep product and business process expertise to understand the “what” and “why” behind capabilities and align them with strategic goals.
Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in Japan, private distributors, and global regions to kaizen business processes through technology and deliver impactful product solutions.
What you bring
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or equivalent work experience
Demonstrated ability to lead and guide a team strategically and tactually to achieve results utilizing expert knowledge and experience.
Demonstrated supervisory experience leading development & support of mission-critical applications, managing technical staff, budgets, and vendors to meet business goals & objectives.
Experience in application production support, ensuring SLAs are adhered to and technical debt is managed/addressed.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create and present concepts, influence, and persuade the business, and make recommendations to leadership.
Experience leading mid to large-sized, highly visible projects and programs.
Broad-based IT experience successfully implementing complex applications and /or developing effective solutions to diverse and complex business challenges and opportunities.
Added Bonus if you have
7 years of experience in AWS Cloud (Certifications preferred)
Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
10 years of experience with on-prem development technology stacks
Automotive and/or manufacturing industry experience
