The Testing Specialist is responsible for execution of laboratory and field validation testing, inspection, and data acquisition for use in the design and validation of Aerospace power generation and conversion products and services. This role requires expertise in electronics, data acquisition, mechanical technology and equipment operation.
At GE Aerospace in Dayton, OH the EPISCenter is the headquarters for all of Aerospace Power Engineering. At this facility you have an opportunity to put your engineering training and skills to use. Our Engineers are focused and challenged on developing new technologies and delivering state of the art products such as Hybrid Electric aircraft, the latest military platforms, and SiC technology to name a few. If you like hands-on work, there is a 155,000 sq ft lab that includes 6 high power test cells totaling 15 MW, an EMI chamber, an electronics lab, a rapid build prototype lab, and a real time simulator lab with all the latest equipment.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Partner with cross-functional teams including EHS, quality, engineering, planning, and materials to support operational initiatives, achieve strategic business objectives, and support constant improvement site-wide.
- Understand and strictly adhere to appropriate technical references such as Test Plans and Procedures, Equipment Operating Procedures, Quality Control Documents, Maintenance Manuals, Shop Manuals, etc.
- Ability to use mechanical and electrical ingenuity and make decisions in a fast-paced environment in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Engineering Technology or High School Diploma / GED with at least 3 years of testing experience.
Desired Characteristics
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology.
- Familiarity with electrical power systems for commercial/military aircraft.
- Experience with data-acquisition systems and instrumentation such as voltage, current, temperature, pressure, flow, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, etc.
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and electrical/mechanical schematics.
- Experience building electronic test equipment and wiring harnesses.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Able to collaborate with Engineering, EHS, and Quality teams on test setups, test execution, and troubleshooting.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently when required.
