The GE9X Design Engineering team is looking for an experienced mechanical design engineer ready to work on the largest and most powerful commercial aircraft engine in the world – the GE9X – as we progress toward entry into service on Boeing’s 777X aircraft.
Within GE9X Design Engineering, the GE9X Hot Section Technical Leader will lead design, certification, supply chain, and cross-commodity problem solving and initiatives with broad scope and high impact. Key responsibilities include leading structured problem solving, program redesign strategy, and process excellence in change management. This role requires cross functional collaboration including systems engineering, the product line team, and across Technology & Operations. It is through your efforts that the GE9X program will be well positioned for a successful entry into service.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead team through problem solving activities related to complex design, certification, and supply chain challenges.
- Mentor and coach engineering teams on execution of design changes, analytical assessments, and balancing scope and requirements across commodities and modules.
- Integrate with Systems Engineering for Revenue Share Partner (RSP) and Avio Aero-owned hot section hardware for design engineering technical expert.
- Assume design ownership of main engine assembly module for certification, development certification testing, and assembly collaboration.
- Lead product line initiatives partnering with materials, heat transfer, aero, and manufacturing.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in mechanical design or engine system integration.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Mechanical component design experience across NPI and fielded program lifecycle phases.
- RSP integration experience.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage structured problem-solving techniques to drive business outcomes.
- Foundation in FLIGHT DECK fundamentals and its integration into daily design operating cadences.
- Demonstrated expertise in design and analysis tools, such as Unigraphics/NX, ANSYS classic.
- Experience and familiarity with GD&T principles and reading drawings.
- Experience in manufacturing high-precision, turbomachinery components.
- Strong mentorship and leadership skills, with the ability to influence others and lead small teams.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze & solve technical design challenges with sound documentation, planning, & program management skills.
- Ability to independently organize, document, plan and execute simultaneous projects while aligning with business priorities.
