Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a highly motivated and talented Experienced Data Engineer to join our team of experts in software development, AI engineering, and data science. As a key member of the Strategic Quality team, you will have the opportunity to design, build, and operate robust data pipelines and platforms that enable advanced analytics and AI‑driven solutions for the Space domain. This role offers a unique chance to collaborate with a diverse group of professionals, drive innovation in data‑centric processes, help shape data‑strategy, and contribute to the development of solutions that address critical problems across the Space business area.
The Strategic Quality Software team is responsible for managing the core software applications used throughout Space Quality teams, and you will provide data‑infrastructure support to Production Quality and Program Quality teams as needed. Your primary responsibility will be to apply modern data‑engineering tools and techniques to existing Quality tools, developing new data‑centric applications that improve the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of Quality processes and drive successful business outcomes. You will utilize the Lockheed Martin AI Factory infrastructure to aid in the development, deployment, and monitoring of data services and pipelines.

Data‑pipeline development: Hands‑on experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Prefect, Dagster) and big‑data processing frameworks (Spark, Flink).
Cloud platforms & services: Deep knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP services for data storage and processing (S3/ADLS, Redshift/BigQuery/Azure Synapse, Lambda/Functions, Glue, Dataflow).
Data modeling & warehousing: Design and implementation of star/snowflake schemas, data lakes, and data warehouses; familiarity with cataloging tools (AWS Glue Data Catalog, Azure Purview).
Version control & CI/CD: Proficient with Git (branching, pull‑request reviews) and automated pipelines for testing and deployment (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
Desired Skills:Domain knowledge: Familiarity with aerospace/defense Quality Engineering processes, standards (AS9100, ISO‑9001), and the unique data characteristics of Space systems.
Business intelligence & visualization: Building and maintaining dashboards in Tableau, Power BI, or Looker to surface Quality metrics to stakeholders.
Vector databases & embedding techniques: Understanding of vector search (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus) to support Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and other AI‑driven use cases.
Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks like TensorFlow or
PyTorch through class projects, internships, or
personal work.
Familiarity with the concepts of building a Retrieval
Augmented Generation (RAG) model and knowledge of
Large Language Models (LLM) concepts.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $93,200 - $164,450. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
