About this role:Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Java Developer to join the Macro Common Services team within Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking Technology (CCIBT). As a key individual contributor on the Calypso platform, you will be responsible for designing and developing solutions that support the FX, Rates, Equities, and Commodities businesses. These solutions span front-to-back operations, including trade capture, trade lifecycle management, accounting, settlement, confirmations, and regulatory and compliance reporting. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, a deep understanding of financial products and business data flows, and familiarity with vendor platforms and configuration. You will be expected to demonstrate and communicate your capabilities across these areas effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with product and business stakeholders in an agile environment to analyze complex business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Partnering with internal technical teams and external vendors to define interfaces, provide estimates, and deliver high-quality solutions
- Designing and enhancing complex platforms and applications to meet evolving business needs
- Managing full project lifecycle activities and coordinating implementation efforts across multiple functions and departments
- Supporting client groups by identifying training needs and facilitating knowledge transfer
In this role, you will:- Lead development efforts on Tier 1 projects and mission critical compliance/regulatory efforts with high impact on Calypso platform
- Recommend and develop viable platform and process improvements for performance, resiliency and automation
- Lead Calypso upgrades and design/development of solutions on Calypso for trade lifecycle, confirmations, accounting and regulatory/compliance reporting
- Work closely with business and technology partners to determine solutions and provide technical interpretation on various matters
- Ensure compliance and risk management requirements for supported area are met and work with other stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
- Identify/prioritize, and resolve any queries, provide development and testing support where needed
- Analysis of software tools/solution and vendor upgrades, and recommendation on approach
- Mentoring of other team members and providing technical guidance
- Engagement with platform team or other downstream partner applications in case of production issues
- Act as a key player within Calypso space, and influencer in technology and agile forums
Required Qualifications:- 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 7+ years of experience in Core Java including data structures, algorithms, multi-threading and exception handling
- 5+ years of experience with Oracle or similar DB including writing efficient and complex queries and optimizing database performance
Desired Qualifications:- Experience working on Calypso platform or a similar trading application
- Good Understanding of Trade lifecycle spanning trade capture, trade workflow, settlement, accounting
- 5+ years of experience with Capital Markets / Banking / Financial Services
- 5+ years of experience in messaging technologies such as JMS / MQ / Solace
- 5+ Experience with CI/CD, EPL, GIT including Jenkins
- 5+ Experience with testing frameworks like JUnit and Cucumber for writing unit tests and ensuring code quality
- Strong understanding of agile application development methodologies such as Scrum
- Development experience in cloud deployment model

Pay RangeReflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$159,000.00 - $305,000.00
