The candidate will be assigned to the Robotics Systems Group within the Extra Vehicular Activity (EVA), Robotics, and Crew Systems Division as a Flight Controller, Instructor, and/or Analyst for the Mobile Servicing System (MSS) including the Mobile Transporter (MT), Space Station Remote Manipulator System (SSRMS), and Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator (SPDM) within the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) Flight Operations Directorate (FOD). The candidate will perform robotics procedure and product development. The candidate may also support a Mission Control Center (MCC) console position and will then continue to higher level Flight Control, Instructor, or Analyst certifications based on the individual’s interest and the group’s needs. The candidate will interface with the NASA customer daily as well as many other engineering organizations and payload customers.
The Robotics (ROBO) team is responsible for all aspects of the operation and management of the MSS robotics system hardware and software. Additional duties require supporting meetings and concisely reporting results to team-members and management, writing system briefs and console procedures, developing MCC displays, console tools, cue cards, and making oral presentations. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.
