The National Security Sector has an opening for a Senior Datalink and Radio Engineer who will support the 623 Air Control Squadron (623ACS) at Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan, providing subject-matter-expertise on the engineering and technical services required to
Primary Responsibilities.
The Datalink Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
- Serve as the MTN expert and interface between the ADS, AOC, and other TDL participants.
- Coordinate unit TDL equipment/network requirements, including interfacing between unit, wing, and higher-level agencies.
- Obtain network descriptions and initialization data loads for all networks to include AF, joint, and coalition networks and maintain them in a local TDL network library for use by operations personnel.
- Maintenance of system files, and TBMCS system parameters
- Ensures servers are following DoD Information Assurance requirements and updates servers that are not in compliance
- Supports the AOC Configuration Management program
- Assists in researching and preparing all materials/documentation in support of new system requirements submitted to the AOC Change Review Board (CRB)
- Operates and maintains Situation Awareness Data Link (SADL), Link-16, and Joint Range Extension Application Protocols (JREAP A, B, and C) beyond line-of-sight data link networks
- Plan and schedule TDL and related communications equipment installation and maintenance
- Setup, maintain, and configure TDL equipment, interfaces, and connections to AEHF, HF, UHF, SATCOM communications systems and associated cryptographic equipment
- Initiate and conduct system verification tests to assess the capability and effectiveness of the datalink architecture and related communications systems and make recommendations to improve the overall datalink architecture
- Resolve installation and maintenance discrepancies using applicable directives, diagrams, and installation systems records
- Install, configure, add, and remove TDL hardware and software as required
- Perform system startups, reboots, and shutdowns
- Develop preventive maintenance schedules and conduct periodic preventive maintenance
- Configure TDL man-machine and machine-machine interfaces
- Perform user account administration
- Monitor and archive log and audit files
- Report suspicious activities identified through monitoring logs and audit files
- Apply security patches as directed
- Help users determine the cause of failures and perform error recovery
- Provide technical support to JICC/RICC/SICC, other deployable datalink nodes, and deployable ICCs in the PACAF AOR. This support will consist primarily of telephonic, chat, and email support to assist site personnel to troubleshoot and resolve local TDL issues.
- Support configuration management activities by maintaining and providing TDL architectural diagrams, equipment listings, software versioning, and configuration information to each JICC/RICC/SICC upon request
- Monitor system performance and generate periodic summaries of system performance and usage
- Perform periodic database backups and database recoveries
- Load new databases, reinitialize and reload databases as required
- Inspect and test assigned systems and components; coordinate with commercial vendors and depots as required to test system components and assemblies in order to isolate faulty hardware and software; remove, repair, replace and restore datalink systems or subsystems
Basic Qualifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, or a related discipline
- 8 years of experience working with datalink systems are required (10 years of experience required without a bachelor’s degree).
- May substitute 3 years of relevant military datalink experience for required educational qualifications.
- Completion of JT- 102 Multi-Tactical Data Link Advanced Joint Interoperability Course is required
- Have extensive knowledge of Engility JRE Client Software, Raytheon Solipsys BCS C2 software, Ultra Electronics ADSI Ultra 16 and TacView C2 software, and Basic Linus Red Hat Enterprise Possess current knowledge of DoD Information Security Policies and Programs for COMPUSEC and INFOSEC, multi-level security, and emerging information warfare concepts utilizing Tenable Networks Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) system
- Experience operating and maintaining various versions of the Maneuver Gateway, Move Out/Jump Off (MOJO), and Battlefield Awareness & Targeting System - Dismounted (BATS-D) PRC-161.
- Experience operating and maintaining various ground radios such as the PRC-117G, PRC-160, PRC-152A, PRC-167, and PRC-163, and leverages various waveforms on these radios to distribute data, voice, and TDL capabilities.
- Possess state-of-the-art knowledge of the World Wide Web, Intelink, and intranet technology, processes, and applications
- Understand military operations, organizations, and operational information requirements
- Must possess good written and oral communication skills, be customer service oriented, and possess project management skills
- Demonstrate an ability to analyze problems and identify solutions methodically and proactively
- TS/SCI Clearance required
- DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II – Security + CE
- Self-motivated with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications.
- Completion of Link 16 Unit Manager Course (JT-220) or Multi-TDL Operations Planning Course, JF-201.
- Experience operating and maintaining Situation Awareness Data Link (SADL), Link-16, and Joint Range Extension Application Protocols (JREAP A, B, and C) beyond-line-of-sight data link networks.
- Experience with Network Integration and protocols (IP, TCP, and UDP).
- Experience with debugging issues with hardware-in-the-loop.

Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
