Description:You will be the Fabrication-Heat Treat Mechanic for the team which is responsible for heat treating and age hardening and testing of steel, and aluminum production parts and their alloys, rivets, steel tooling parts and stock.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Fabrication-Heat Treat Mechanic, you will be responsible for determining the heat treat process and quenching required to obtain results, and determining proper timing and temperature of ovens, salt baths according to material composition, shape, size and thickness.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Heat treating production steel and aluminum parts, tooling parts, dies and stock made from steel or steel alloys
- Operating hand or power equipment to change furnace or bath and quenching, and checking and maintaining heat treat solutions
- Operating age hardening ovens by checking orders for correct material and preceding heat treat, and setting controls for proper heat and time according to established specifications
- Recording treatment method for future reference, and working with authorized liaison personnel as required
- Selecting and placing shims to correct out of tolerance conditions from reference tables and written procedures

Basic Qualifications:Two years experience which provides knowledge of heat treating methods and processes and aircraft sheet metal hand finishing, bending, or forming. This experience can be totally from the outside or in combination with satisfactory performance as a Sheet Metal Operator, Code 526-3, performing router, circular saw, or other closely related metal cutting work or documented braking or forming experience as a Production Worker, Code 555-3.
NOTE:
Completion of a high-quality industrial-based machine shop training program which is typically 800-1600 training hours in duration would offset six months of the two-year requirement.
Employee must be able to read and interpret detail and assembly blueprints and understand heat treat specifications and nomenclature.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
