The Engineering Manager is a critical role that provides information to costing team to help develop accurate time standards, operation sequences, plant capacity analysis while ensuring the team embraces and champions Tegra core values and operating principles.
Responsible for developing the standard minutes for cutting & sewing processes following the GSD’s analysis & system to obtain the right and most accurate SMV’s minutes for costing purposes. Requires experience to read BOM’s, Specification, Tech pack and cutter must sheet according to style families, garment construction and process flexibility viable to support an acceptable and competitive customer pricing that gives to the company a profitable utility. Accountable for establishing the accurate cost for embellishment process (Embroidery, Twill & Sublimation).
This position will manage one (1) Direct Reports: Mechanic.
Job Duties:
- Review the daily minute request file sent by the costing coordinator to attend costing requirements regarding Cutting, Sewing and packing minutes for new or carry overs styles.
- Update embellishment calculators once or twice a year as needed.
- Must ensure safety for all plant associates through safe practices and effective communications.
- Create production minutes based on GSD Methodology /software and time clock studies.
- Create line balances for all product categories in the facility and partner with plant mechanic to work on line setups.
- Assessment by process to eliminate bottlenecking and improve workflow.
- Work closely with the Product Development department during sample making of new styles with the purpose to detect a constrain or difficult operation during the process to provide support.
- Keep ongoing communication between Costing coordinators, Product Development and floor supervisors weekly reviewing construction of new styles and any carryovers to find the best manufacturing performance.
- Partners with quality to help build a manufacturing culture that drives high quality products.
- Support Planning & production manager to define and adjust plant capacity and capabilities.
- Daily problems solving for issues regarding production matters related to sewing method or line balance.
- Helps identify and implement cost savings initiatives & projects.
- Ensure the Mechanic is providing the best service to Managers/ Supervisors related to mechanical issues.
- Develop training program to enhance employees’ capabilities.
- Supports facility on implementation of lean manufacturing initiatives.
Skills/Qualifications:
- 5- 7 years of experience in the apparel and sporting goods industry in similar positions.
- Manufacturing & embellishment process experience.
- General knowledge of cutting and sewing equipment.
- Problem solving skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to work per prescribed production methodologies and processes.
- Excellent organizational and engaging interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and writing
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize
- Computer skills (advanced excel, power point, smartsheets)
- GSD Knowledge (certification is preferable).
- Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus
Education / Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering field and a minimum of five years of successful experience in apparel industry.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $73,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
