Job Description
As Clover expands to meet increasing demands and support its global growth, building a resilient and scalable platform is essential. The Boarding team in EMEA plays a critical role in enabling new markets and supporting merchants in EMEA. To drive innovation and deliver high-quality solutions, we are seeking a Server Engineer who will lead the design, development, and implementation of backend services that power Clover’s onboarding and maintenance flows.
This role will be pivotal in developing robust, high-performing services, reducing technical debt, and ensuring seamless integration across Clover’s ecosystem. By collaborating with cross-functional teams and driving engineering best practices, the Server Engineer will help position the Boarding platform to scale globally while maintaining speed, quality, and reliability.
Daily Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and implementation of software applications to support Fiserv's business goals.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Design, develop, and implement scalable backend services and boarding flows.
Take ownership of features from design through production deployment.
Refactor and optimize existing services for performance and maintainability.
Collaborate with product, business, and engineering teams to define technical requirements.
Contribute to technical design discussions and drive architectural decisions.
Partner with SDETs and QA to ensure quality throughout the development lifecycle.
Integrate services into CI/CD pipelines for smooth deployments and fast feedback.
Participate in peer code reviews to uphold engineering best practices.
Monitor and optimize system performance, proactively resolving bottlenecks.
Ensure low-latency, high-availability solutions that scale with global growth.
Support production systems and participate in KTLO (Keep The Lights On) activities.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
Lead knowledge-sharing and learning sessions to enhance team capabilities.
Requirements for Consideration
8+ years of experience in software development, with expertise in Java programming language.
8+ years of experience in SQL databases and designing and optimizing SQL queries.
Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and agile methodologies.
Experience with microservices architecture and containerized deployments (e.g., Kubernetes) preferred.
Strong design and problem-solving skills with a focus on building scalable, resilient systems.
