What does a successful Systems Engineer do at Fiserv?
As a Systems Engineer at Fiserv, you will design, deploy, and maintain highly available and scalable systems while collaborating with development teams, implementing automation tools, and monitoring performance using Dynatrace. You will configure and optimize Apache and Tomcat servers, ensure security compliance, and perform routine maintenance on Linux systems. Additionally, you'll implement monitoring systems with Splunk, conduct root cause analyses, and participate in incident response and on-call rotations.
What you will do:
Design, build, deploy, and maintain highly available and scalable systems in collaboration with development teams
Implement and manage automation tools and frameworks to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual efforts
Monitor system performance using Dynatrace and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime
Configure and optimize Apache and Tomcat servers for optimal performance
Perform routine maintenance, including applying patches and updates to Linux systems
Ensure adherence to security and compliance standards
Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using tools like Splunk
Conduct root cause analysis of critical incidents and implement preventive measures
Participate in incident response and on-call rotation
Define and refine operational processes with cross-functional teams
Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in SRE, DevOps, and cloud technologies
What you will need to have:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field and/or equivalent military experience
7+ years of experience in a similar SRE or operations role
7+ years of experience with Linux systems administration and shell scripting
7+ years of experience with automation tools like Ansible
7+ years of experience with Azure cloud services and deployments
7+ years of experience in managing and troubleshooting Apache and Tomcat servers
7+ years of hands-on experience with Splunk and Dynatrace for monitoring and performance optimization
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities
What would be great to have:
Experience with programming languages such as Java, .Net, or Angular
Certification in Azure, Ansible, Dynatrace, or Splunk
Experience with networking protocols and security principles
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code frameworks
