Overview
The HVAC Apprentice is a full-time, entry-level team member selected from Universal
Technical Institute’s 9-month HVAC program. This role offers immersive hands-on experience
alongside ABM’s HVAC Maintenance team while the apprentice completes their technical
education. The apprentice will support routine maintenance, learn diagnostic techniques, and
assist with service calls under the supervision of experienced technicians.
This position is designed to complement classroom learning with real-world application,
supporting the apprentice's immediate full-time role and providing a foundation for
advancement within the HVAC field.
Learning Objectives:
- Perform HVAC system inspections and basic maintenance tasks
- Assist in identifying HVAC issues and conducting diagnostics
- Apply EPA regulations and safety protocols in daily work
- Read and interpret schematics and technical documentation
- Deliver professional communication and customer service during service calls
Program Structure & Timeline:
- Duration: 9 months (aligned with UTI program)
- Schedule: Full-time (up to 40 hours/week, flexible around class schedule)
- Mentorship: Paired with a senior HVAC technician
- Evaluation: Monthly progress check-ins and skill assessments

Essential Functions:

Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in UTI’s HVAC program (first class preferred)
- Strong interest in HVAC systems and mechanical trades
- Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable transportation to work sites or local office
- Clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Knowledge of ladder safety and OSHA safety practices
- Adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements
