Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra is currently looking for an individual with a comprehensive understanding of television news production and outstanding written and verbal communication skills. This individual will be responsible for creating compelling news stories for various formats.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shoot, record, and edit video, audio, and images, often using professional software for production.
- Writing and editing daily stories, as well as gathering material to contribute to building the rundown.
- Conduct interviews, perform investigations, and observe events to gather information for news stories.
- Publish and promote content across websites, social media, and broadcast channels to reach diverse audiences.
- Use social media to provide updates, engage with viewers, and promote news coverage.
- Cover live events, breaking news, and other urgent situations, often with little notice.
- Stay up to date on current events and news in New England.
- Participate in community events and station activities from time to time as master of ceremonies and/or host as requested by the station.
- Assist producers in establishing sources, finding and executing enterprise news investigations, building and maintaining a strong list of story ideas
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Reporter and in news writing
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a TV news operation
- College degree required
- Bilingual: (English/Spanish) required both written and verbal.
Desired Qualifications:
- Journalistic Skills: Strong writing, interviewing, reporting, and ethical journalism principles.
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in video editing software, graphic design tools, and web publishing platforms.
- Digital Savvy: Understanding of and ability to use social media for newsgathering and promotion.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication for on-camera and off-camera roles, and the ability to ad-lib and improvise effortlessly in various types of on-air situations
- Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and cover a variety of subjects.
- Creativity: Creative thinking to conceptualize and package content in engaging ways.
