JOB SUMMARY
Supports activities related to engineering and prototyping services for Advanced R&D.
This position will have responsibilities across Cardiovascular and Specialty Solution (CSS) Companies (Johnson and Johnson Family of Companies) including a span of multiple product platforms such as ENT, Electrophysiology, Neurology, Vision, and Surgical and Non-Surgical Aesthetics.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Under (e.g., limited supervision, general direction, etc.) and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
Builds new devices based on engineering designs and/or verbal instructions
Supports basic engineering activities to effect high quality processes and design guidelines for dissemination throughout the division.
Checks basic layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensions
Requisitions equipment and materials; performs vendor and equipment analysis for engineers to determine feasibility
Supports designed experiments and capability studies, collects documents, and files records on process specifications
Collects design documentation and puts together training packets on new processes, materials, and equipment
Adheres to all company safety policies and procedures and other safety precautions within the work area.
Provides support to Engineers in matters related to the discipline
Follows standardized procedures to perform his/her tasks, when applicable
Maintains his/her work area clean and organized
Initiates, adjusts and operates basic laboratory and manufacturing equipment
Has completed the environmental and safety training, appropriate for his/her discipline
Performs basic operational diagnostics tests, solves problems and disconnects components, subassemblies and manufacturing systems, processes and equipment with the purpose of isolating the failures, determine a solution and perform the necessary operations, documenting all the changes.
Ensures that the tools and testing equipment are properly calibrated and repaired, according to the standardized operations procedures
Provides design support for research and development
Provides support for engineering change orders
Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
Responsible for ensuring subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition.
Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
Performs other duties assigned as needed.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
2 to 4 years of experience, preferably related to the position
High School, technical career, or equivalent
Experience in the Medical Device industry or medical field
Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices, and procedures
Knowledge of specific business practices and software and software applications
Able to enter data on spread sheet and database applications
Ability to communicate effectively with Engineers and other Technicians
Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers
Ability to work with patent attorneys to secure IP
Ability to perform duties in accordance with policies and procedures and to comply with civil rights requirements.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES and AFFILIATIONS
Ability to use computer programs including e-mail
Ability to use measuring and testing equipment associated with the specific discipline
Ability to communicate in English, orally and in writing
Ability to perform “active involvement” in the solution of problems and problem resolution
Capacity to solve problems by providing good judgment
Additional Information:
The expected base pay range for this position is $45,100 - $72,105 / annually.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performan$ce-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
This position is overtime eligible. (include if applicable for role)

o Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
o Condolence Leave – 30 days for an immediate family member: 5 days for an extended family member
o Caregiver Leave – 10 days
o Volunteer Leave – 4 days
o Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours
