About this role:Wells Fargo is seeking a
Senior Data Science Consultant as part of the
Wholesale Operations Data, Analytics and Reporting (DAR) team within Global Operations. Wholesale Operations is comprised of Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Operations, Commercial Banking (CB) Operations, and Wealth & Investment Management (WIM) Operations. The Wholesale Operations DAR team is focused on maturing the data and analytic solutions across these operational units to deliver improved intelligence and insights that dive operational optimizations. As the
Senior Data Science Consultant, you will be responsible for owning and driving key work and initiatives across the Wholesale operations that aligns, transforms, and matures the Data and Analytic capabilities and output of Wholesale Operations.
In this role, you will:- Lead or participate in moderately complex initiatives and deliverables by utilizing data-driven, advanced analytical, statistical techniques, algorithms, or models to make actionable insights, trends, recommendations, or contribute to large-scale planning that has a broader impact
- Review and analyze moderately complex, large structured and unstructured data sets from various sources, requiring an in-depth hypothesis generation and advanced analysis of variable factors to convert data into meaningful insights and recommendations
- Independently analyze and resolve moderately complex issues and lead team to meet deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of analytic capabilities
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to drive recommendations and strategies based on data-driven analytical insights, trends, and patterns that will resolve issues and achieve goals; may lead projects, teams, or serve as a mentor for lower-level staff
- Execute analytical experiments and create innovative statistical models to discover solutions for abstract business problems across various domains
- Interpret and analyze data, using advanced analytics modeling methods and programming, to recommend ways to solve problems and influence business decisions and strategies
- Communicate actionable insights and recommendations using data in a digestible format to a non-technical audience of varying levels
Required Qualifications:- 4+ years of data science experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, economics, or computer science
Desired Qualifications:- Experience with Optimization Modeling: hands-on expertise in linear programming, mixed-integer programming, and heuristic algorithms to solve real-world business problems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Fabric: including experience integrating data pipelines, leveraging OneLake, and building semantic models for scalable analytics.
- Advanced analytic toolsets such as Python (e.g., SciPy, Pyomo), R, SAS, or similar platforms for statistical modeling and machine learning.
- Experience working with cloud-based data platforms and modern BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to visualize and communicate complex analytical results.
- Automation & Workflow Optimization: Ability to automate data pipelines and reporting processes using tools like Airflow, Alteryx, or scripting languages.
- Big Data & Cloud Platforms: Exposure to big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud environments (e.g. GCP, AWS, Azure) commonly used in banking analytics.
- Exceptional Analytical Expertise: Proven ability to conduct deep business and operational analysis, translating complex data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.
- Execution-Oriented Mindset: Demonstrates a strong bias for action with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines.
- Executive Communication & Storytelling: Advanced skill in crafting compelling narratives for senior leadership, including the development of clear, visually engaging presentations and dashboards using tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
- Structured Thinking & Communication: Strong logical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities, paired with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Collaborative Leadership: Ability to build strong partnerships across internal teams and stakeholders in a highly matrixed environment, fostering alignment and driving consensus on data-driven strategies.
- Operational Risk Acumen: Solid understanding of operational risk frameworks and how data science can be leveraged to identify, assess, and mitigate risk within financial institutions.
- Industry Experience: Demonstrated success in roles within Commercial Banking, Wealth & Investment Management (WIM), or Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB), with a strong grasp of industry-specific challenges and regulatory considerations.
- Proven experience in capacity modeling, including scenario planning, resource allocation, and demand forecasting across complex systems.
Job Expectations:- This position is NOT eligible for Visa sponsorship.
- Ability to work on site per Wells Fargo's standard operating model in one of the listed locations (hybrid schedule - 3 days in office, 2 days remote).
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Pay RangeReflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$119,000.00 - $206,000.00
