About your role:
As a Platform Engineer, in Cloud Development Environment, you will lead the design, implementation, and management of scalable, secure, and developer-friendly cloud-based development environments using Coder.com. Your role will be pivotal in transforming how engineering teams build, test, and deploy software by enabling efficient, cloud-native development workflows. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align development infrastructure with business and engineering goals, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
What you’ll do:
Architect and manage cloud-based development environments using Coder.com across multiple teams and projects.
Design scalable and secure infrastructure to support containerized development environments.
Automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of development environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
Integrate Coder.com with CI/CD pipelines, identity providers, and developer tools.
Monitor and optimize performance, cost, and user experience of cloud development environments.
Establish best practices and governance for secure and compliant development workflows.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams adopting cloud-based development.
Stay current with trends in cloud-native development, DevOps, and remote development tooling.
Experience you’ll need to have:
6+ years of experience in systems or cloud engineering.
3+ years of experience designing and managing cloud-native development environments.
3+ years of experience with Coder.com or similar platforms (e.g., GitHub Codespaces, JetBrains Gateway, Gitpod).
3+ years of experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
3+ years of experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
3+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Pulumi.
3+ years of experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business and/or equivalent military experience.
Experience that would be great to have:
Experience integrating Coder.com with enterprise authentication and authorization systems (e.g., SSO, LDAP, OAuth).
Experience with observability tools for monitoring developer environments.
