As a Manager you'll be responsible for achieving administration and operating results by coaching, managing and developing associates. We'll count on you to maintain alignment with divisional objectives. In addition, you'll measure and manage the team's performance and plan, develop, improve and implement procedures and guidelines.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Leads the unit, including strategic and tactical planning and management of workflow. Coordinates the development, implementation and communication of new procedures and changes in procedures within the Premium Audit/Direct Collection unit to improve efficiencies in the workflow, develop an effective staff and strong customer focus.
Provides staff with direction, coaching, and leading to achieve and maintain current status on incoming work and correspondence.
Meets, assists and communicates effectively with general agents, customers, attorneys, collection vendors and audit vendors on the accuracy, compliance and resolution of complex audit disputes about audit premium due.
Meets and maintains working relationship with external audit and collection vendors. Ensures cost, timely service and quality work is provided by consistently evaluating vendors. Researches and meets with possible new vendors and requests proposal documents. Updates vendor contracts and add new vendors as needed.
Completes monthly reporting on all current activity within the Premium Audit/Direct Collection unit and provides to management. Involved in preparation of budget, forecasting, and other key financial activities as needed. 
Coordinates the hiring of personnel, prepares performance and salary appraisals, promotions of subordinates, scheduling of vacation time and personal days, regulation of overtime and compressed work week schedules.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Premium Audit Director; direct reports include four or more Premium Audit professional staff and support staff.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate degree in business administration/management preferred.
Licenses/Certifications/Designations: Completion of technical insurance classes or progress toward technical insurance designations such as CPCU preferred.
Experience: Six years work experience in an insurance operation, including management supervision experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of assigned lines of business, general agency system, underwriting/marketing principles and techniques, Insurance Law and Bureau Rating system. Knowledge of insurance agency accounting and an in-depth understanding of the accounting cycle. Knowledge of all property/casualty policies and all endorsement forms preferred. Working knowledge of the regulatory climate in audits and collections preferred.
The ability to communicate interpersonal with individuals and groups via the telephone and in writing. Proven ability to operate software applications such as Windows, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Confirmed skills in employee management; validated ability to analyze insurance accounting transactions and terminology; strong analytical, organizational, team building and training skills are crucial.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Must be able to work outside of the normal work day, including occasional weekends to meet service requirements and complete special projects; handle a high volume and variety of work within time constraints; some out-of-state business travel. Must have a valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record in accordance with Nationwide standards.
