Job Summary
Processes bills to outside parties for work performed by CSX- approximately $500 million annually. Reviews project requests to identify costs billable to a third party. Ensures appropriate tracking of incurred costs including labor (Engineering, Mechanical, and Transportation), material, and invoices. Provides related accounting services to internal customers. This role interfaces with multiple departments including but not limited to: Engineering, Risk Management, Environmental, Mechanical Operations, and Joint Facilities.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Performs customer and project setups
- Manages cost recovery billing processes related to crossing accidents/events
- Oversees process for calculating and billing of train delay and locomotive loss of service costs
- Processes payables, typically for refund of unused project construction deposits; ensures project costs are reconciled to customer’s total deposit
- Preforms various receivables functions, such as ensuring proper cash application and issuing invoices to external customers, as required by agreement or at the request of customer
- Analyze various management reports to determine needed action daily; monitor and correct system errors as needed
- Perform Projects system journal entries upon request to support billing needs of business partners from CSX police services, Conrail environmental, and Mechanical Dept. for radio repairs, geometry cars, other
- Assist the Collections department with invoice corrections, project expenditure transfers or other needed adjustments
- Miscellaneous activities, as assigned by manager
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 or more years of experience working in an office environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
- High school diploma

Knowledge and Skills
- Understanding of billing processes
- Microsoft Office skills (including Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams)
- Working experience with Oracle Financials
