Position: AI/ML Engineer
Leidos National Security Sector is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to join the Air Force Technical Application Center (AFTAC) US National Data Center team. This role supports the integration of advanced AI/ML algorithms into legacy nuclear monitoring systems, contributing to national security through real-time geophysical data processing.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and integrate AI/ML algorithms into mission-critical software systems
Build and curate datasets for training, tuning, and testing models
Evaluate algorithm performance in real-time geophysical environments
Collaborate with government and contractor teams across software and geophysical domains
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related field, with 2+ years of relevant experience. Additional experience, training, or certifications may substitute for degree
U.S. citizen; Currently possessing an Active DoD Secret clearance and eligibility for Top Secret/SCI
Proficiency in Python and shell scripting in Linux/Unix environments
Strong analytical, scientific, and problem-solving skills
Experience building datasets and evaluating AI/ML model performance
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of digital signal processing, time-series analysis, Fourier/spectral analysis, and seismic event classification
Experience with seismic or geophysical data processing
Familiarity with deep learning, neural networks, classification, and ensemble methods
Experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle/SQL)
Exposure to Flask, C/C++, and version control tools (e.g., Git, ClearCase)
Master’s degree in Machine Learning, Data Science, Geophysics, or related field and/or 4+ years of experience

Pay Range $67,600.00 - $122,200.00
