The National Security Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Data Engineer with a strong background in data analytics to support an exciting DHS software development program. In this role, you will work alongside various business process stakeholders and application developers to provide data necessary for decision support tools across an array of operational functions. The ideal candidate will have solid core skills and proven history in implementing appropriate modeling and data science strategies required to address customer needs. This role requires a strong foundation in Data Science concepts, Python programming experience, and the ability to work in fast-paced collaborative development teams.
Primary Responsibilities
Conducting data analytics, data engineering, data mining, exploratory analysis, predictive analysis, and statistical analysis to transform data into narrative products for informed decision making.
Designing and building data management systems, collaborating with data users to optimize architectures and systems.
Selecting and configuring backend database technologies and optimizing scalable, efficient data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform structured and unstructured data infrastructure for intelligence needs.
Implementing automated processes for integrating various datasets, conducting scalable data research, and developing scripts to handle data efficiently.
Collaborating with collection managers and computer scientists to design new data processes and generate algorithms for automated collection strategies
Participating in briefings, meetings, conferences, and working groups to provide advice and resolve issues as requested by the Government.
Support multiple simultaneous projects and take open-ended or high-level guidance, independently and collaboratively make discoveries that are mission-relevant, and package and deliver the findings to a non-technical audience.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree and 6-8 years of relevant experience in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, or a related analytical field
US Citizen
Ability to get/maintain Public Trust clearance
Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and database design principles
Skilled in relational databases, SQL, and API-based data querying
Experience developing predictive algorithms, image classifiers, object detectors, and others
Proficiency in data visualization and graphical applications (PowerBI, etc)
Experience with major data science languages such as R and Python
Ability to manage and merge disparate data sources using R, Python, or SQL
Preferred Qualifications
Exceptional coordination and collaboration skills
Track record of active learning and creative problem solving
Familiarity using GIT, SVN, Jira, or other version control technologies
Experience with Azure cloud data analytics tools

Pay Range:
Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
