What You’ll Do
Lead with Strategy: Collaborate with meeting sponsors and senior leadership to define event goals and translate business objectives into impactful event strategies.
Design the Experience: Develop and present comprehensive event proposals that include creative concepts, experiential design, budgets, site recommendations, and operational plans.
Deliver Excellence: Manage end-to-end execution of large-scale meetings, incentive conferences, and events—ensuring every detail contributes to a cohesive and memorable experience.
Drive Innovation: Infuse events with experiential creativity, storytelling, and design thinking to elevate attendee engagement and emotional connection.
Optimize Resources: Source, negotiate, and contract vendors to maximize ROI and deliver financial value.
Project Manage with Precision: Oversee timelines, assess risks, and adapt plans to maintain strategic alignment and flawless execution.
Own the Details: Coordinate travel, lodging, attendee management, speakers, entertainment, A/V, décor, gifting, and onsite logistics.
Leverage Technology: Utilize cloud-based tools (e.g., CVENT) for registration, budgeting, sourcing, reporting, and mobile app integration.
Measure Impact: Analyze event data to assess success, uncover insights, and recommend future enhancements.
Build Influence: Cultivate strong relationships with industry suppliers, creative partners, and influencers to stay ahead of trends and elevate event outcomes.
What We’re Looking For
Certifications: CMP required; CVENT Certification preferred; PMP a plus.
Experience: 15+ years of corporate event and meeting planning, with a strong background in strategic event design and experiential execution.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Drives and manages collaborative interactions and partnerships with meeting sponsors and key senior leadership to achieve event goals and objectives to ensure the successful implementation of events.
Ideates, develops and presents comprehensive event proposals to senior level Nationwide executives including projected budget, creative elements, site and property recommendations, business content support, activities/entertainment, destination management, and other related event operational components.
Sources, negotiates, and contracts vendors as appropriate to meet business goals, ensure return on investment and ensure financial value. Drives and implements strategic partnerships to add value to individual programs and collective event offerings.
End-to-end meeting and project management; includes leading project teams for large complex meetings, incentive conferences and events.
Develops and controls timelines, including regularly reassessing risks, throughout project life. Revises project plans on an ongoing basis to maintain alignment with other projects and the business strategy.
Manages the interfaces between event projects and people to ensure collaboration and coordination.
Leads complex project teams to ensure the successful operation of all event details and components, regardless of in-person, virtual, or hybrid; including, but not limited to travel, lodging, attendee management, speakers, entertainment, A/V and production, decor, gifts and amenities, print collateral, and onsite event management.
Drives a Return on Investment / Event model including the collection and analysis of event data to determine event success. Outcomes include the development of future program recommendations and event benefits including sales lift.
Establishes, develops, and maintains relationships with meeting industry suppliers, influencers, and thought leaders to ensure quality support, competitiveness, and responsiveness to Nationwide's needs.
Confidently uses cloud-based programs (i.e. CVENT) to manage events from intake through registration, project management, budgeting, attendee management, sourcing, reporting, and onsite management of mobile app technology.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director/AVP. May have the opportunity to manage a team of event planning professionals.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in related business field preferred.
License/Certification/Designation: CMP required, CVENT Certification preferred, PMP preferred
Experience: Typically, 10 or more years demonstrated experience in planning corporate events and meetings.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong and tested project management skills. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills used to interact with wide variety of audiences including Nationwide management, meeting planning networks, and vendors. Strong interpersonal skills and executive presence with the ability to develop and present program recommendations. Able to analyze and make decisions based on sound practices and budgetary considerations. Ability to be flexible and agile to innovatively address issues under stress. Demonstrate professionalism and political savvy.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
