About your role:
Join a small but growing team responsible for creating and maintaining a cutting-edge suite of back-of-house web applications, Point-of-Sale APIs, and Android client applications. As a Back-End Engineer, you will utilize your Java Server Engineering expertise to elevate the quality of the entire team's output and help define the long-term architecture for our application suite. This role is perfect for a flexible, results-oriented engineer who is comfortable engaging in product discussions and prioritizing quality.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the design, development, and launch of backend software that powers Clover’s Point Of Sale software
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams to turn business needs into scalable, reliable technical solutions.
- Write clean, efficient Java code—and test, debug, and optimize it to ensure top-tier performance.
- Improve and maintain existing codebases while leading thoughtful peer reviews that help everyone grow.
- Work across cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP to build and manage resilient services.
- Build and refine CI/CD pipelines, helping us release faster and with confidence.
- Guide junior developers by sharing your knowledge, offering feedback, and supporting their growth.
- Bring your expertise in Agile practices to help the team deliver high-impact features on a consistent cadence.
Experience you’ll need to have:
- Bachelor's Degree (preferably Computer Science or Engineering) or equivalent combination of experience, education and military.
- Mentor junior engineers
- 6-10 years of experience in software development.
- 6+ years of experience in Java Programming, Spring Boot, and microservices.
- Experience in SQL databases and NoSQL.
Experience that would be great to have:
- Experience in the financial services industry.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience in AWS, Azure, or GCP services.
How you’ll work:
- This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
- This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment.
