Senior Advisor, Software Architecture
About your role:
At Fiserv, we build digital banking platforms that serve financial institutions and their customers worldwide. The Software Architecture team designs scalable, secure, and resilient platform architectures that enable next-generation banking experiences. As a Senior Advisor, you will shape architecture strategy and ensure practical, high-quality solutions that drive platform reliability and innovation.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the development and implementation of enterprise software architecture strategies, standards, and reference architectures to support scalable, resilient banking platforms.
- Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to align architectural direction with strategic objectives and delivery roadmaps.
- Provide expert guidance on solution design, integration patterns, and cross-system interoperability across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Remain hands-on with technology—participate in critical design reviews, prototyping, and implementation decisions to ensure architectures are actionable and high quality.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and patterns that improve performance, cost-efficiency, and developer productivity.
- Develop and maintain architectural artifacts: models, blueprints, API contracts, and operational runbooks.
- Mentor and coach other architects and senior engineers to elevate architecture reviews and enforce best practices.
- Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.
Experience you’ll need to have:

- 12+ years of experience in C# and .NET Core application development, library design, and performance optimization.
- 12+ years of experience implementing security and compliance controls, encryption frameworks, and identity/access management (e.g., OAuth2, OpenID Connect).
- 10+ years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-native services.
- 10+ years of experience with relational and NoSQL databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Cosmos DB, MongoDB), data modeling and performance tuning.
- 10+ years of experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM/Bicep), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), and containerization (Docker).
- 8+ years of experience with container orchestration, service mesh, and API technologies (Kubernetes, Istio, HTTP/JSON APIs, OpenAPI).
- 8+ years of equivalent combination of educational background, related experience, and/or military experience.
Experience that would be great to have:
- Deep hands-on experience with service mesh implementations (Istio, Linkerd) and advanced Kubernetes operational patterns.
- Experience with observability and telemetry stacks (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) and distributed tracing at scale.
- Prior work in highly regulated environments with exposure to compliance frameworks (PCI DSS, SOC2) and secure release processes.
- Experience with chaos engineering or performance/scale testing tools (k6, Gatling, Chaos Mesh).
- Proven track record of leading architecture reviews and presenting technical strategy to executive stakeholders
