Job Summary:
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s (OCI) Oracle Managed Kubernetes (OMK) team is seeking a visionary and results-driven Director of Engineering to lead our rapidly growing group. OMK is OCI’s enterprise-grade Kubernetes service that provides a managed, scalable and secure environment to deploy containerized applications. It is built on the open-source Kubernetes engine and designed to simplify operations, improve performance and provide deep integration with the broader OCI ecosystem. As OMK adoption accelerates, our customers and internal stakeholders rely on us to deliver innovative, performant, and robust managed Kubernetes experiences. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape both the tactical execution and strategic direction of OMK at Oracle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Service Ownership & Operations: Own and drive the service’s operations, overseeing customer experience, system stability, reliability, and performance. Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and adoption of best practices for availability and scalability.
- Feature & Architectural Leadership: Guide and coordinate new feature development across multiple sprint teams. Drive architectural improvements, technical roadmaps, and platform enhancements in collaboration with engineering and product teams.
- Strategic Direction & Community Engagement: Advance OMK’s position as a preferred platform within Oracle by engaging with the broader OCI engineering community. Build partnerships, address requirements, and champion OMK adoption within Oracle.
- Metrics & KPIs: Define and track KPIs and qualitative goals that measure the team’s impact and align with OMK’s business objectives. Employ data-driven approaches to set priorities, monitor progress, and track tactical deliverables.
- Talent Development & Leadership: Inspire, mentor, and retain top engineering talent by setting clear goals, providing actionable feedback, and supporting career growth. Guide frontline managers in establishing objectives, tracking performance, and professional development aligned to business needs.
- Project Management: Ensure strong execution discipline. Own and communicate project timelines and priorities, remove roadblocks, and ensure continuous progress on initiatives.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant technical leadership in cloud or distributed systems or Kubernetes environments.
- 6+ years of experience managing and scaling engineering teams, including mentoring managers.
- Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence and deliver reliable, scalable, high-performance services.
- Deep understanding of modern cloud computing, infrastructure as code, and distributed systems
- Track record of successful cross-team/cross-org collaboration, ideally in large-scale organizational contexts.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Experience setting KPIs, OKRs, and delivering against business and technical goals.
- Passion for developing people and aligning team growth with business priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise with Kubernetes managed services and large-scale cloud platforms.
- Experience working on customer-facing operational improvement initiatives.
- Prior Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) experience a plus.

Responsibilities

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $122,500 - $291,800 per year. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
