KBR is seeking a Lead Cost Controller to oversee our cost control team embedded within the client’s office in Adelaide. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping outcomes, building trusted relationships, and delivering insights that matter.
About the Role:
As the Lead Cost Controller, you’ll be responsible for the setup, execution, and continuous improvement of cost control systems and procedures across a major utilities project. This is a client-facing leadership role, where your ability to influence, guide and collaborate will be key to success.
You’ll work closely with project managers, procurement leads, and engineering teams to ensure financial clarity, risk management, and strategic decision-making. You’ll also mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
Key Responsibilities include:
Lead the development and implementation of cost control systems and procedures.
Forecast, monitor, and report on project costs, variances, and trends.
Deliver monthly cost reports, dashboards, and insights to support project leadership.
Manage risk analysis and lead change management processes.
Coordinate with procurement and engineering leads to align cost strategies.
Support bid estimates and contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Collaborate with the broader Project Controls leadership team to shape long-term strategy.
Skills & Experience Required:
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline with 12+ years of experience in cost control or project controls.
Proven ability to engage with stakeholders and drive best practices in project delivery.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead discussions and influence outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
Collaborative mindset with a passion for mentoring and team development.
Strategic thinking and sound judgment to solve complex problems and develop best practices.
