Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking an Associate, Experienced, or Senior Tool Engineering Controls Technician (Level 2, 3, or 4) to provide factory support for troubleshooting, maintaining, and calibrating automated tools and equipment used on the Space Launch System (SLS) Program at the Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) in New Orleans, Louisiana.
This position is primarily first shift with occasional off-shift/weekend support and travel.
Position Responsibilities:
Provide hands-on factory support to production for troubleshooting, maintaining, calibrating, repairing, and commissioning automated tooling and production equipment
Diagnose electrical, pneumatic, servo/drive, and control system faults; develop and implement corrective actions and work-arounds to minimize production downtime
Create and figuration control documentation, software, and Site Security Plans for the above activities
Support configuration, testing, and validation of controls systems, human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and PLC-based automation
Work closely with production mechanics, engineers, and maintenance teams to ensure equipment readiness, reliability, and safe operation
Support asset disposition, spare parts planning, and readiness activities
Assist engineering with installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing of new or modified equipment
Participate in failure investigations and help implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Train production and maintenance personnel on safe operation, basic troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance tasks
Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors for repairs and technical support when necessary
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
1+ years of experience with troubleshooting and maintaining automation equipment
1+ years of experience reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, material processes, schematics and diagrams
1+ years of experience with typical electronics lab equipment (Oscilloscope, Multimeter, etc.)
Experience with safety process and/or procedures in a manufacturing or operations environment
Experience working with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams
Ability to support frequent standing, walking, lifting, and working at heights with or without equipment assistance
Willing to cover on call shifts, including weekends and after hours (up to 10% of the time)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Technical certificate, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in an electrical, electronics, mechatronics, instrumentation, or related technical field
Able to travel domestically 10% of the time
Experience working with high voltage (480V) heavy equipment; compliance with lockout/tagout and other safety procedures
Experience with troubleshooting system faults and developing preventative maintenance plans
Experience supporting PLC, HMI, motion-control, variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo drives, with ethernet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus on any of the following equipment platforms:
Allen-Bradley RSLogix, Studio 5000/Controllogix, and PanelView HMI
Siemens TIA Portal and Step7
KUKA and Fanuc industrial robots
Experience supporting aerospace production, large-structure assembly, or NASA programs
Ability to read, update, and maintain configuration and maintenance documentation in a configuration-controlled environment
Demonstrated problem solving, collaborative communication, and continuous improvement mindset

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Associate (Level 2) Summary Pay Range: $52,700 - $71,300
Experienced (Level 3) Summary Pay Range: $63,750 - $86,250
Senior (Level 4) Summary Pay Range: $75,650 - $102,350
