In addition to the technical responsibilities, the ideal candidate should be a valuable team member who is open to giving and receiving recommendations regarding the design of the production environment. Lastly, this role requires adherence to all global DBA team conventions, processes, guidelines, priorities, cadences, tooling, etc., and providing support for all requirements from the US side ENG (and other stakeholders), executing key projects, handling BAU tasks, being on-call, and bridging the gap between the different teams from different locations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation under guidance to ensure database service meets SLA/SLO standards.
- Safely execute database changes—including data updates, index tuning, parameter adjustments, schema migrations—while following established procedures and receiving support from senior team members.
- Assist in optimizing database performance, stability, and cost efficiency, including collaboration with upstream/downstream application teams.
- Support database architecture improvements such as topology updates, feature adoption, high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and version upgrades.
- Help implement data governance and security measures and contribute to process improvements.
- Assist in designing and maintaining monitoring and alerting systems to support daily operations and project needs.
- Contribute to building automation tools and services that improve operational efficiency and reliability.
ABOUT YOU
- 2–3 years of hands-on experience in database management, including installation, monitoring, backup/recovery, and basic performance tuning.
- Familiar with at least one major database system such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, or RDS/Aurora.
- Open-minded and eager to learn new database technologies as needed by the business.
- Comfortable with at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Go, JavaScript, Shell) and willing to grow automation skills.
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix systems and basic troubleshooting skills.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, OCI) and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) is a plus.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; able to follow guidance and steadily grow into more independent responsibilities.
- Candidates with strong learning ability and motivation will be given special consideration—we value growth potential as much as experience.
