About Your Role:
Join the Clover Release Engineering and Management team and play a key role in delivering seamless software that powers commerce for hundreds of thousands of merchants worldwide. As a Release Manager, you'll orchestrate complex, full-stack releases across our custom hardware, cloud-based POS software, and thriving App Market. If you are passionate about streamlining processes, building automation, and maximizing product quality, we want you on our team.
What you’ll do:
- Manage end-to-end software release workflows by working closely with technical leads, product owners, QA, infrastructure, and external teams to ensure everything runs smoothly.
- Identify and drive improvements in how we plan, coordinate, and deliver releases—you’re always looking for smarter, faster, and more reliable ways to get code into production.
- Track progress and timelines to make sure releases land on schedule with minimal service disruption.
- Own the release calendar and keep everyone informed—communicating schedules clearly and coordinating across teams so nothing slips through the cracks.
- Flag risks early, manage scope changes, and solve release-related issues before they become blockers.
- Run release readiness and milestone reviews to ensure every deployment is backed by thorough planning and stakeholder alignment.
- Maintain a well-organized release repository with essential documentation like build procedures, dependencies, and communication lists.
- Represent the team in weekly CAB (Change Advisory Board) meetings, sharing details on release scope, timelines, and potential impacts.
- Provide guidance to development and QA teams on best practices for source control and configuration management.
- Stay curious and collaborative—research new tools and partner with analysts and admins to improve how we manage code, deploy updates, and support our platform.
- Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.
Experience you’ll need to have:
- Bachelors or Masters STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math), or equivalent combination of experience, education and military.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Release Manager working with technical teams developing software solutions.
- Experience with DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, Gerrit, Phabricator, or Puppet to support build, integration, and deployment pipelines.
- Deep knowledge of the software development lifecycle and experience applying Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall project management methodologies.
- Experience with environment management, release management, code versioning, deployment methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD tools.
- Experience with database design concepts and use of SQL.
- Experience with API and Web Services (REST/SOAP).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across technical and non-technical teams.
Experience that would be great to have:
- Previous experience working with Point of Sale (POS) systems or in the payments industry.
- Familiarity with automation frameworks and practices in a DevOps environment.
