Caterpillar is hiring a Sr. Product Service Engineer. In this role, you will support Compact Track Loaders (CTL) and Skid Steer Loaders (SSL) out of Sanford, NC. You will be responsible for improving quality, managing product issues, supporting dealers, supporting customers, ensuring product acceptance, and improving customer satisfaction.
What You’ll Do
Service Engineering: Improve product quality, repairability, maintenance, and serviceability. Create and deliver service publications and communicate product improvements outward and across the organization.
Continuous Improvement: Work with Caterpillar dealers, customers, engineering teams, and production facilities to improve product quality.
Product Problem Management: Gather field data, Voice of Customer (VOC), and Voice of Dealer (VOD) in order to set priorities on product problems. Support product problem investigations by managing all field requests, providing input into field Interim Corrective Actions (ICA), providing input into Permanent Corrective Actions (PCA), and to communicate updates externally to Caterpillar field representatives, dealers, and customers.
New Product Introduction (NPI): Provide the VOC and VOD to influence designs early in the NPI process to meet those customer requirements. Manage and lead the customer field follow programs, which includes gathering the VOC and positively impacting the machine design. Responsible for publication of the Operation and Maintenance Manual, Service Manual modules, technical publications, and parts stocking.
What You Have (Core Skills)
Technical Excellence: Expertise in electrical, electronic systems, mechanical systems, engine systems, structures, integrated systems, and general design engineering. Proficient in troubleshooting and diagnosing issues on construction equipment.
Effective Communications: Experience communicating complex issues downward, upward, across and outward to dealers and customers. Ability to work flexibly across time zones with cross functional and multi-cultural teams.
Customer Focus: Experience working with customers and prioritizing customer needs in improving the product.
Top Candidates Will Also Have
Education: Degree in accredited Engineering curriculum.
Experience: Relevant industry experience in Construction Equipment, Mining Equipment, or Automotive. Experience in product development with design, manufacturing, supply chain, and test teams.
NPI: Experience in NPI or product problem management for construction equipment or similar OEMs.
Company Knowledge: Experience working with Caterpillar, Caterpillar dealers, or customers.
Summary Pay Range:
$126,000.00 - $189,000.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
