What You Will Do
Johnson Controls is seeking a Chiller Product Engineer to join their Air Cooled Magnetic Chiller engineering team based in New Freedom, PA. As a Chiller Product Engineer, you are responsible for contributing to the global chiller engineering team through product design, testing, data analysis, and project support. This includes supporting manufacturing by initiating and executing design changes, resolving factory and field technical issues, and collaborating across teams. Strong communication skills are essential for presenting information to engineering teammates, managers, product management, and business leaders. This position is onsite based in New Freedom, PA. Candidates must be commuting distance to the office, or able to relocate.
The engineer will work under the Product Engineering Manager to assist in the design and development of new products and support production of existing products globally. Occasional domestic and international travel is expected (approximately 10%).
How You Will Do It
Maintain understanding of design theories, technical principles, and processes related to mechanical and electrical aspects of air-cooled chillers.
Conceptualize and implement mechanical design ideas into product platforms.
Collaborate with design and drafting teams to generate layout concepts and system configurations.
Prepare and execute test plans to verify performance and reliability of components and systems.
Review and analyze test data to support design decisions and troubleshooting.
Generate and compile engineering/design documentation for internal use.
Apply regulatory codes (UL, CE, PED, ASME) in product design.
Support manufacturing teams by initiating and executing design changes aligned with standard manufacturing processes.
Lead and participate in engineering projects, communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Promote continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development environment.
What you will need
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience in product design and development
Experience providing technical support to manufacturing or product testing processes
Experience with 2D and 3D modeling software preferred. (Creo, Solidworks, Autocad, etc.)
Preferred
Knowledge/experience in refrigeration systems and components (e.g., compressors, heat exchangers)
Knowledge/experience in electrical controls (e.g., motor control, reading electrical schematics, understanding digital and analog inputs/outputs, etc.)
Experience with SAP/ERP as well as PLM/Windchill
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $78,000 - $95,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
