Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
Versant is seeking a Newsroom Operations Manager to be the bridge between editorial and technology solutions at CNBC. This role requires someone who deeply understands the newsroom workflow from pitch to publish and how stories move across platforms. The ideal candidate is a former editor or newsroom leader who understands the full lifecycle of digital storytelling and the realities of live news production who can translate front-end newsroom needs into operational and technology solutions.
You’ll be a regular presence where news is made—in the newsroom, control room, and the field. You'll ensure editorial teams are supported and enabled, workflows are efficient, gaps are identified and closed, and duplication is minimized.
This role is at the heart of the newsroom, making sure CNBC’s journalism reaches audiences quickly, accurately, and with impact.
Responsibilities
- Serve as Versant's primary operational partner for CNBC teams, identifying workflow challenges and driving solutions that support the digital news mission.
- Act as the editorial voice in cross-functional conversations with product, technology, and engineering partners, ensuring newsroom requirements are translated into effective tools and processes.
- Map, document, and standardize newsroom workflows to improve speed, collaboration, and consistency across platforms (digital, streaming, social, and broadcast).
- Support coverage of breaking news and major events by ensuring workflows enable seamless execution and rapid response.
- Develop training and onboarding resources to help editorial teams adopt new tools, workflows, and best practices.
- Establish quality standards and performance measures to monitor and continuously improve newsroom operations.
- Maintain an active presence in the newsroom and control room to stay close to editorial needs, proactively surfacing pain points and opportunities.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in editorial leadership, newsroom management, or digital news production (editor, senior producer, or similar role).
- Prior editorial experience (editing, producing, or newsroom decision-making)
- Strong understanding of digital publishing workflow
- Success implementing or adopting newsroom technology solutions.
- Skilled in process analysis, workflow mapping, and change management.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to secure buy-in across editorial, technical, and leadership teams.
- Experience leading newsroom adoption of new tools, systems, or workflows.
- Familiarity with newsroom planning platforms, digital publishing tools, and multi-platform storytelling.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or equivalent newsroom experience.

This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
