The Opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity for anyone looking to get involved at the forefront of the energy transition. The Electrification and Energy Solutions (E+ES) business is seeking a highly analytical and collaborative Strategic Finance Manager to lead commercial pricing and profitability analysis across our portfolio. This role is pivotal in shaping our pricing strategy, supporting commercial decision-making, and driving long-term profitability growth. You will work cross-functionally with Sales, Pricing and Business Development, Corporate Investment Analysis, and the products organizations to develop and refine complex financial models that support various sales models including direct sales, leasing, and hybrid structures across the E+ES product portfolio.
What You Will Do:
Commercial Pricing & Profitability Analysis
- Develop and maintain pricing methodology and models for various go-to-market models including direct sales, leasing, and service-based offerings.
- Analyze customer and product-level profitability, including cost allocations, service model impacts, and margin optimization.
- Partner with Commercial and Engineering to incorporate technical and market inputs into pricing strategies.
- Develop financial models to assess risks, sensitivities, and trade-offs.
Complex Financial Modeling
- Build and maintain advanced financial models to support strategic initiatives, scenario planning, and investment decisions.
- Evaluate new business models and pricing structures for scalability and profitability.
- Support capital allocation decisions through discounted cash flow (DCF) and ROI analysis.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Commercial Sales to align pricing strategies with go-to-market plans.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Investment Analysis team to assess strategic investments and M&A opportunities.
- Work closely with Engineering to integrate product cost structures and technical constraints and trade-offs into financial models.
Process Improvement & Governance
- Lead initiatives to improve pricing workflows, approval and governance framework.
- Establish pricing policies and controls to ensure consistency and compliance to various accounting and enterprise procedures.
Performance Analysis & Reporting
- Develop KPI dashboards and reporting tools to track pricing performance and profitability.
- Conduct post-mortem analysis on pricing decisions and deal outcomes to inform future strategy.
- Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
What You Have:
- Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related quantitative field; MBA, CFA, CMA preferred;
- Business Acumen: Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations. The ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Financial Analysis: Proven expertise in financial modeling, pricing strategy, and profitability/risk analysis. Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
- Effective Communications: Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to effectively manage complex discussions with various levels of stakeholders and business partners.
- Organizational Leadership: Knowledge of leadership concepts and ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives. Demonstrates leadership qualities: intelligence, dominance, persistence, integrity, confidence.
What Will Set You Apart:
- MBA, CFA, CMA highly preferred.
- Experience in strategic finance, FP&A, pricing, decision sciences, or investment analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling tools.
- Prior exposure to lease-based or subscription pricing models.
- Familiarity with risk analysis and simulation tools such as Monte Carlo.
- Experience in B2B SaaS, manufacturing, or services industries.

- The primary location for this position is Irving, TX
- This role requires 5 days a week in office

Summary Pay Range:
$144,960.00 - $217,320.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
