About your role:
You will join a collaborative, high-performing tax team within Fiserv that supports global payments and fintech operations. This role focuses on indirect tax compliance, audits, and incentives work to ensure accurate tax reporting and minimize risk. You will deliver timely filings and analyses that support business decisions and regulatory compliance.
What you’ll do:
- Prepare and review timely, accurate sales and use tax returns, including monthly reviews of sales tax data and use tax accruals, e-filing, tax payments, and account reconciliations.
- Assist in preparation and filing of Canadian GST/HST and provincial PST returns, including payments, reconciliations and audit queries.
- Support preparation of working papers for Canadian corporate income tax filings, processing estimated tax payments, and related reconciliations.
- Support assigned tax audits and represent business interests before state and local taxing authorities to minimize audit deficiencies.
- Assist in determination of sales/use taxability of transactions and provide support to domestic business units on tax issues.
- Identify and help implement tax planning opportunities, process efficiencies, quality improvements, and risk-mitigation strategies.
- Work on credit & incentives projects, aggregating and calculating data from Payroll and HR; participate in project teams to monetize incentive results and ensure compliance.
.Experience you’ll need to have:
- Experience in U.S. state and local sales and use tax compliance, including return preparation, e-filing, payments, and use tax accruals.
- Experience managing tax audits and controversy with state and local taxing authorities.
- Experience working on tax credits & incentives projects, aggregating payroll and HR data to calculate incentives and ensure compliance.
- Experience in tax systems and ERP platforms such as Vertex Sales & Use Tax and SAP, including tax reporting integrations.
- Experience in advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VBA/macros) and account reconciliations.
- Experience in tax research and compliance tools and standards (e.g., Sales & Use tax Income tax).
- Bachelors degree or 3+ years of equivalent combination of educational background, related experience, and/or military experience.
Experience that would be great to have:
- Canadian GST/HST and provincial PST compliance and audit experience.
- CPA certification or progress toward CPA licensure.
- Experience with BNA or Checkpoint tax research and compliance tools.
- Experience automating tax processes using Alteryx, Power Query, or similar tools.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management with Payroll and HR to deliver cross-functional tax projects.
