About your role:
You will join the Payments Risk team at Fiserv, protecting the firm and our clients from fraud and credit losses by investigating suspicious merchant processing activity and negotiating remediation. The role supports merchant underwriting and portfolio protection through financial analysis, collateral negotiation, and cross-functional coordination with Legal, Funding, Operations, and Client Services.
What you’ll do:
- Make real-time decisions to identify situations requiring deeper investigation and recognize emerging fraud trends.
- Coordinate risk mitigation and fraud remediation efforts across departments including Funding, Legal, Operations, and Client Services.
- Communicate regularly with internal and external partners to present high-risk activities with recommended actions.
- Review numerous accounts in a fast-paced environment to identify potentially high-risk/suspicious merchant processing activities.
- Review and investigate merchant accounts to assess fraud and credit risk exposure.
- Negotiate collateral requirements, resolve merchant inquiries, and complete special projects related to portfolio risk.
- Interpret financial statements and personal credit profiles to assess creditworthiness and calculate exposure (discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages).

Experience you’ll need to have:
- 2+ years of experience in payments risk and fraud investigations, including merchant acquiring, chargeback workflows, and merchant underwriting.
- 1+ years of experience with fraud and case management platforms and analytics tools (e.g., NICE Actimize, SAS Fraud, FICO, ACI, Verifi).
- 1+ years of experience interpreting financial statements and performing financial ratio and cash-flow analysis.
- 1+ years of experience with card network rules and payments standards (e.g., Mastercard/Visa association rules, NACHA, PCI DSS).
- 3+ years of equivalent combination of educational background, related experience, and/or military experience.
Experience that would be great to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Criminal Justice, Pre-Law, or related field.
- 1+ year of prior credit risk or payments risk experience focused on merchant portfolios.
- Familiarity with chargeback representment and dispute resolution workflows.
- Experience managing cross-functional stakeholder communication and presenting risk findings to senior leaders.
- Prior exposure to case automation, rule-tuning, or machine-learning models for fraud detection.
How you’ll work:
- This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
- This role requires the use of a computer and audio equipment.
- You will work an assigned schedule of 8:00-5:00pm.
