What does a successful Director of Product Design do at Fiserv?
You will play a critical role in shaping the digital experience across Clover’s diverse product offerings and will oversee the UX strategy and execution within the Clover Design organization while also engaging in hands-on design work.
With your deep understanding of user-centered design principles, a passion for innovation, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to drive excellence in product design, you will bring your proven track record of leading successful UX initiatives in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment to create user-friendly elements for Clover.
What you will do:
Product Design Direction
Develop and implement a comprehensive UX strategy that aligns with Clover’s business goals and enhances the overall digital experience for clients and users.
Actively participate in the design process by creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for key projects, demonstrating best practices in user experience design.
Team Management
Establish clear performance metrics and goals for the UX team this role will directly manage, ensuring alignment with the broader objectives of Clover.
Collaborate with product management, engineering, marketing, and other stakeholders to integrate UX best practices into the product development lifecycle.
Serve as a key liaison between Clover Design Team, and teams across Clover to ensure a cohesive approach to design and user experience.
Strategic Thought Partnership
Oversee user research initiatives to gather insights on user needs, behaviors, and pain points, translating findings into actionable design recommendations.
Present findings and recommendations to executive leadership, demonstrating the value of UX in driving business success.
Advocate for the importance of UX within the organization, influencing stakeholders at all levels to prioritize user-centered design.
What you will need to have:
12+ years of experience in user experience design, with Fintech/Payments domain experience.
5+ years in a People Management role, overseeing and managing projects and external partners, with a proven track record of success bringing products to market, scaling, and unlocking growth.
Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, or military experience.
Extensive knowledge of human-centered design processes and artifacts, and the ability to deliver task flows, journey maps, product maps, content models, product specifications, design systems, and more.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously at varied stages of completion, ensuring the success of product designers and the product managers and engineers they work with.
Experience managing people, providing guidance and mentorship, educating by example and leveling up those around you.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, an evidence-based approach, comfort leading in a culture that values healthy and constructive debate.
A genuine passion for good questions, sound process, and potent insights, and the ability to effectively advocate for research and testing.
Strong strategic thinking, a deep knowledge of best-practices and how to apply them, and skill in the creative assembly of innovative solutions.
What would be nice to have:
Experience managing teams working with AI technology and/or designing AI-powered products
Experience working as a principal individual contributor, demonstrated capacity to lead from the front, and a willingness to get your hands dirty
Knowledge of advanced features of design and prototyping tools, what can be done and how, and an ability to push for higher standards of rigor and efficiency
