Description:You will be the Mechanical Designer – Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) for the Increment 2 Rapid Combat Capability (RCC) team. Our team drives the end to end development of the PrSM hardware, delivering configuration item drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM) packages, and digital product data that enable fabrication, procurement, and fielded sustainment.
What You Will Be Doing As the Mechanical Designer you will own the creation, coordination, and release of all mechanical design artifacts that feed the RCC program. Working side by side with product engineers, production planners, and the global supply chain, you’ll translate concepts into solid model geometry, Model Based Design (MBD) deliverables, and fully validated tolerance analyses that keep the missile on schedule and under budget.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Generate and maintain 3 D solid models and 2 D drawings in the Digital Product Lifecycle Management (dPLM) environment.
• Produce complete, release ready engineering documents (drawings, BOMs, assembly parts lists) for fabrication and procurement.
• Perform tolerance stack up and fit analyses to ensure manufacturability and reliability.
• Apply Model Based Design principles, embedding GD&T and feature control frames directly in the CAD model.
• Coordinate design changes across cross functional teams, ensuring baselines are current in dPLM.
• Support Production Planning, Operations, and Global Supply Chain with accurate, up to date design data and troubleshooting.
• Identify and implement innovative design solutions to resolve complex mechanical challenges.
• Conduct design reviews, incorporate feedback, and secure formal engineering release approvals.
• Maintain documentation compliance with DoD and Lockheed Martin standards.
