We are looking for a Senior Project Geoscientist to identify and evaluate exploration targets with potential to deliver ore bodies and advance projects with the potential to deliver large, low-cost, long-life mines. Ensure quality area selection, rapid and efficient project progression toward drill testing, and timely exit from projects that do not meet criteria.
Reporting to Exploration Manager, your responsibilities will be to:
Provide high quality geoscience technical support and advice to projects in the portfolio for design to execution.
Contribute to project generation efforts by identifying new opportunities through regional data analysis, new data collection, data integration and field reconnaissance leveraging new and emerging technology where applicable.
Identify and apply new and novel approaches to target generation to identify new opportunities in mature or new terrains.
Drive collaboration across multi-functional teams to achieve technical milestones and ensure timely project progress.
Review and prioritize projects effectively and deliver clear recommendations to stakeholders through presentation and reports for decision-making.
Mentor and supervise early career geoscientists and foster a high level of collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team and the wider exploration team.
What you’ll bring
A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
Bachelor’s, master’s degree in Geology, Geoscience, or related discipline
10 years+ experience with significant time field-based exploration projects
Strong technical knowledge of mineral systems with a particular focus on major copper mineralization styles
Ability to apply innovative techniques and technology in exploration programs
Proven leadership in managing and mentoring field teams and contractors
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Familiarity with common geological software and data management tools
