About the Team
The Cloud Platform Engineering team is responsible for building and managing Workday’s public cloud platform. This is a Kubernetes based platform running on AWS and GCP. It hosts all of Workday’s applications in dozens of clusters across the world.
The Development tools team is responsible for a collection of services such as Prow and Tekton, that enables platform service teams to deliver their applications.
Some of the technologies in the cloud platform organization used include Golang, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, ArgoCD, Argo Workflows, Tekton, and Helm.
About the Role
We’re looking for a motivated engineer who is committed to cloud native principles. The right candidate will be able to drive Workday’s public cloud platform development, understand other teams’ needs for the platform, discuss solutions with architects and business partners, and mentor junior members of the team.

Take ownership for the delivery of key features or products.
Work with leading cloud technologies
Triage production issues and address root causes.
Collaborate with product management and partner teams.
Maintain our products and tools to ensure we’re tracking upstream and addressing
security vulnerabilities.

About You
Software Development Engineer - Basic Qualifications
6+ years experience developing in a modern programming language (Golang, Ruby, Python, Scala, or Java 8+)
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Other Qualifications
Experience with running server orchestration solutions in production (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, or other solutions)
Experience designing and building a microservice architecture
Experience with a cloud platform: AWS (preferred), GCP, Azure
Knowledge of Linux
Ability to work cross functionally with multiple stakeholders (including product management, workmates as well as external teams using our platform)
Experience working in an Agile environment
Experience developing automation solutions
Knowledge of best practices for Cloud Native infrastructure management and operations
Knowledge of CI / CD principles and best practices
Knowledge of Storage, Networking, Systems, configuration management
