Job Description Summary
The Composite Design Engineer at GEIQ is an integral member of the Composite Design Engineering team that is based in the US and has team members at multiple GE Aerospace global sites as well as integrated Engineers in the Shops at some of our key composite suppliers. Applicants for this position should have subject matter expertise in structural composite design and manufacturing. The intent is that this position will co-locate with other composite focused persons at GEIQ, with an emphasis on supporting local composite suppliers.
The Integrated Manufacturing Engineering (formerly Production Technologies) Department works in a cross-functional environment that is focused on delivering high quality aerospace composite hardware to meet our customer needs and business demands. Within this role you will have the opportunity to support all composite hardware applications across our entire legacy commercial engine fleet, you will work closely with internal and external composite suppliers and the essential cross-functional domestic and global teams that support hardware production.
Typical job functions include, but are not limited to, assessing the quality of new make hardware, supplier process qualification against the critical design functions of our hardware, waste reduction efforts to improve producibility and the quality of hardware, development of breakthrough technologies to improve production of composite hardware through process and / or material developments, etc. This role is critical to the success of GE Aerospace to serve our customers and meet essential business commitments. With a breadth of exposure to the diverse portfolio of GE Aerospace composite applications across the business.

Desired Characteristics
- Experience in the application of composite materials to Aerospace / Aviation hardware to meet critical design functionality.
- Familiarity with multiple methods of producing composite hardware using aerospace composite materials
- Experience leading and mentoring less experienced engineers.
- Familiar with APQP best practices and implementation, in depth understanding of quality processes used to assess and control composite hardware
- Background in mechanical design and FEA of composite hardware
- Strong program management experience and digital management tool familiarity
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong understanding of aviation regulatory agencies (FAA / EASA) and how to interpret and applying certification requirements to the design of composite hardware.
