The Opportunity
KBR is executing a Digital Engineering strategy to manage complexity, leverage technical capability, and deliver speed to capability for Defence. This strategy includes enabling digital engineering environments and facilities, as well as executing Defence programs to develop, host, and integrate systems as models, architectures, or digital twins.
We are seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Systems Modellers to play a key role in driving modelling and simulation activities for major Defence technology programs, including C4ISREW, SATCOM, Space, Air Defence, and other critical capabilities.
Role Overview
As a Systems Modeller, you will:
Capture and model concepts, requirements, and designs for complex Defence programs.
Perform Mission Engineering using mission threads and scenarios to support modelling in the customer problem space.
Develop and sustain MBSE architectures using tools such as CATIA Cameo, Enterprise Architect, AFSIM, or ANSYS.
Ensure integration and traceability across lifecycle phases, from requirements through to verification.
Contribute to the growth and enablement of Digital Engineering Infrastructure, including the Systems Integration Laboratory and virtual collaboration environments.
Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to:
Develop and integrate mission engineering models and simulations using MBSE tools.
Define end-to-end architecture solutions aligned with technology standards and roadmaps.
Collaborate to mature capability enablement through environment design, model development, and reporting.
Validate and integrate externally sourced models into system or enterprise frameworks.
Enhance KBR’s Digital Engineering knowledge base through reusable artefacts and configuration scripts.
Engage with Defence clients, project teams, and industry partners to define architecture strategies.
Manage configuration and databases for digital engineering toolchains.
Ensure compliance with Defence standards and cybersecurity protocols.
Deliver technical documentation and reporting on modelling activities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential:
Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
5+ years’ experience in digital systems design and integration.
Proven experience in systems architecture development within Defence or regulated environments.
Strong proficiency in MBSE methodologies and tools (SysML, UML).
Eligibility for Australian Government Security Clearance (NV1 or higher).
Desirable:
Postgraduate qualifications and professional recognition (CPEng, ACS).
Experience in innovation, capability development, and Agile/SAFe frameworks.
Familiarity with DevOps, coding languages (Python, JavaScript), and secure systems design.
